Ballenboek
Ballsy design...
Challenge number one when designing a cookbook? Clarity! Think: easy-to-read recipes, smart paper choices for greasy fingers, and fun (but not overly complex) layouts. With that brief in hand, we stepped into Wim’s kitchen. Over sixty meatball recipes were given a modern, warm layout. The goal? To appeal to both seasoned foodies and no-nonsense home cooks. So, this wasn’t a culinary Da Vinci Code with twenty-step recipes, but an accessible and characterful cookbook with a playful twist.
...and roll!
With the help of photographer Piet De Kersgieter and food stylist Debby De Mangelaere, the book became a strong visual whole, while still leaving space for variety. Because, as Wim made clear to us: a meatball is comfort food, but also surprisingly versatile. With soft pink as the guiding color, a creative division between meat and veggie, and a sturdy hardcover with foil stamping, our recipe was complete. And the title? It started as a working title and stuck, both literally and figuratively. A simple concept, with a very tasty result.
